This has to be one of my favorite memories:
Walking through the hallways of my high school with a snake wrapped around my arm or a tarantula on my hand.
It did rather scare all the other girls away and half the boys, lol.
My high school biology lab was a wondrous place.
The teacher had all kinds of animals there.
Small pets like hamsters and gerbils and mice. Lizards of all kinds. Fish of many varieties. Etc. Then he also had more exotic animals like scorpions and tarantulas and snakes! Many, many snakes. Mostly pythons, but he had a few others too. Rebecca, the largest of the snakes, was 15 feet long!
My first job outside of my own home was to take care of all (well most) of the animals in that lab. I did not take care of Rebecca or some of the other larger snakes, but I took care of everything else.
I love animals and it was a great deal of fun. I learned a lot, especially about the more exotic animals.
And, boy did I enjoy walking around the school with a snake wrapped around my arm or a tarantula on my hand, lol.
